Orthopedic Rehabilitation encompasses a wide range of injuries and problems involving the joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones and peripheral nerves. In physical therapy we work to resolve pain, limited motion, gait problems, weakness, loss of function, and to prevent recurrence.
Patients can either be seen after an injury or after surgery to facilitate the recovery process. We perform an evaluation to determine the cause of the limitation and therefore implement the appropriate treatment and rehab program.

Athletic injuries are essentially orthopedic injuries which occur with an individual's involvement in any sport. Our goal for the athlete is to return them to the sport quickly through appropriate rehabilitation programs, and prevent re-injuries through proper warm-up and training techniques. Our programs are effective, helping return patients to previous levels of sports activity and improve their performance level through exercises for the trunk and upper and lower extremities.
Computerized isokinetic joint and muscle testing is often used during the rehab process to facilitate and track progress. To initiate strengthening and running activity at earlier stages of the recovery process, therapists will have athletes use the aquatic therapy pool.

Back and Neck Therapy (Spinal rehabilitation) refers to problems with your neck or back. Because of the unique structure of the spine and special problems related to this area, specialized training is necessary to ensure appropriate intervention.
Spinal injuries can occur as a result of traumatic events, and more often as a result of small but repetitive insults to the spine. Each spinal injury is unique and needs to be addressed with an individualized treatment program. Summit works with each patient in order to learn how to best treat their individual needs to return them back to their normal daily activities. This is performed through the use of manual techniques, targeted therapeutic exercise to core muscles, and modalities as needed. Treatment also teaches the patient how to prevent re-injury through activity modification training, ergonomic training, and instruction on home exercise and fitness programs.
